Tuition fees

The majority of the costs of state scholarship training is covered by the state budget, as defined in Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education, while the costs of self-financed training are borne by the student. In the case of self-financed training, the tuition fee is approved by the Faculty Council of the USZ Faculty of Science and Informatics. The tuition fee for self-financed doctoral students in English language training is 5000 euro/ semester for full-time students. A doctoral student employed as a lecturer/researcher at the USZ, or students actively participating in the work of a university research group, a doctoral student employed as a researcher in an academic research group at the USZ, a doctoral student employed at HUN-REN, the BAY-BIO in Szeged, the Grain Research Center in Szeged, pays 150 euro/semester as tuition fee, while a doctoral student employed at ELI pays 2500 euro/semester. Further discount may be granted upon individual request.

Student complaint handling

The procedure for student complaints, appeals, and redress is as follows, subject to the provisions of the University Doctoral Regulations: students may submit complaints regarding their doctoral studies by e-mail or in writing to any DSC Program Leader or the DSC Management. In all cases, the complaints will be investigated within one month by an ad hoc committee of at least two DSC core members and one doctoral student appointed by the DSC Council. The committee will inform the DSC Council at the next DSC meeting and recommend possible action to be taken. The proposal must be approved by the DSC Council. The appeal protocol is the following: first level by the Doctoral Council of Natural and Technical Sciences, second level by the University Doctoral Council, and finally by the Rector.

Naturalization

According to the Other Provisions in Chapter IX of the Regulations for Doctoral Training and Doctoral Degree Awarding of the University of Szeged (USZ), "the University Doctoral Council may grant the degree of a foreign academic degree as a doctoral degree by resolution if the requirements for the degree meet or, subject to additional conditions, can be met for the degree of a foreign academic degree as provided for in the Regulations for Doctoral Training and Doctoral Degree Awarding of the USZ. The Doctoral Council of Natural and Technical Sciences of the USZ, after having received the opinion of the council of the competent doctoral school, shall make a proposal to the University Doctoral Council on the equivalence of the conditions, the imposition of additional conditions, if any, and the nationality of the degree, after having received the opinion of the council of the competent doctoral school." "The naturalized degree has no qualification, and no diploma can be issued as a result of the naturalisation. The procedure shall follow the provisions of Act C of 2001 and Act CL of 2016 on General Administrative Procedure." Before starting the naturalization procedure, applicants are advised to contact the Head of the School of Chemistry with copies of the doctoral degree and its English version, an electronic version of the dissertation, a list of publications based on the dissertation, and documents proving language skills.
