Research:

Our Research Group investigates plant stress responses to various biotic and abiotic stress factors. We are focusing on the light-dependent role of plant defence and cell death mechanisms after treatment with various fungal and bacterial elicitors (e.g. flg22, CHT) and toxins (e.g. FB1, FA), as well as herbicides. In addition, we also examine salt stress-induced physiological, biochemical, and molecular responses of plants with special emphasis on the role of ethylene, abscisic acid, jasmonic acid, polyamines, reactive oxygen- and nitrogen species, antioxidants, and proteases. Another topic is the investigation of the role of phytohormones under ER stress in tomato plants. Our newest research topic is to elucidate the red light-regulated plant defence mechanisms, especially focusing on the role of red light applied at night when most of the plant pathogens show higher virulence.
