Course description:
Types of lasers in materials processing.
Laser-induced physical and chemical processes. Surface modification by
lasers. (recrystallisation, amorphisation, ablation). Laser induced etching
and deposition; liquid and gas phase processing. Laser-induced Chemical
Vapour Deposition (LCVD). Pulsed Laser Deposition of thin films (PLD).
In-situ monitoring of laser induced elementary processes. Characterising
the processed surfaces / films / interfaces. Comparison of laser-based
and classical techniques.
