Course description:
Determination of membrane permeability.
Origin and measurement of Membrane potential. Study of photosynthetic electron
transport by measurement of chlorophyll fluorescence. Binding of dyes to
macromolecules in solutions studied by optical spectroscopy and gel chromatography.
Polarization spectroscopy: determination of orientation of biomolecules.
Pulsed polarographic measurement of oxygen evolution of photosynthesis.
Light-induced electron and proton transfer in bacterial reaction center
protein of photosynthetic bacteria. Photocycles of light converting proteins:
bacterial photosynthetic reaction center and bacteriophodopsin.
