Course description:
Mechanics of rigid bodies: inertial
tensor, gyroscopes. The heavy symmetrical top. Mechanics of deformable
bodies: dilation and stress tensors. Basic equations of motion of elastic
bodies. Oscillations of strings and membranes. Waves in isotropic elastic
bodies. Mechanics of liquids: Equations of motion and conservation laws.
Plane potential flows. Nonideal liquids. Viscosity tensor and Navier-Stokes
equations.
